five sleeps to go

... and my family comes to see me! I'm so excited as I last saw them in May so clearly it's been waaay too long. I've got the whole week off work so I'm sure it's going to be such a fun week - being a tourist on the island and making day trips to Savannah and Charleston :) And, most importantly, eating out every night yum.. I know there's a little fatty inside me!

Anyway, before I get too excited I wanted to share my favourite outfit from last night's Academy Awards. I was at work till 11pm last night so didn't get a chance to actually watch it but I had a little peak of the outfits online. I just love events like that and picking out my favourite outfit :)

Just loved Halle Berry's dress :) I know she's had some interesting choices in the past years but this one totally won me over. And she looks absolutely stunning with her cropped hair too!

Hello from little miss ill. So I'm starting to realize going out last night wasn't the best idea.. stayed in on Friday, in bed yesterday and suddenly felt a lot better later on at work so a night out why not! I wasn't drinking last night which is why I volunteered to drive and got home at a reasonable hour too (well, to be honest only because all bars in SC stop playing music at 2am!!! - stupid state law).

Hopefully a couple of hours in the sun before work will make this blocked nose and the lump in my throat go away :) And haven't taken any photos, again.

weekend plans

I think I've just had the two most unproductive days off. Ever. As Wednesday night's "drinks" turned into a crazy night and too many very strong vodkas I had kind of a killer hangover yesterday... actually had to resort to a McDonalds!! Bad times. Today's been almost as bad - not enough sleep last night after sleeping all day yesterday, going to the staff meeting too early in the morning, coming down with a cold (right now my nose is blocked, eyes sore and head is aching)... dear me.

Anyway, I'm still debating whether I should go out for a little bit or just stay in bed and have a quiet night. I think I'm still recovering from Wednesday and might drive out and have a laugh watching everyone else getting off their faces haha. Kind of have also decided what I'd wear sooo really can't stay in ;) I've got another friend's birthday drinks to go to tomorrow night so it should be a fun weekend!

Here's what I'm planning on wearing tonight... we'll see how many times I change my mind before leaving the house!

tonight's gona be a good, good night

As I blogged on Friday, me and some of the girls ventured out to Savannah for a night out instead of the boring local bars... and had such an amazing time! A coach was organised to take people into Savannah for the night, returning to the island after the clubs close, and we decided to jump onto that too after searching for accommodation and figuring out none of us could actually afford to stay in Savannah for the night!

So off we went, paid the organiser $30 each, had a couple of drinks on the bus before arriving in River Street to go to the first bar called 'Wet Willie's'. Got to love the name hahaha, they do these kind of slushie drinks (just a warning they are lethal, very very strong)... I had a Sex on the Beach and it didn't disappoint :)

After a while we headed to another bar, the name of which I can't recall, it was more of a indie kind of place and reminded me of Manchester <3 Then on to another, and finally to 51 Degrees... which was just what I needed! A normal club, three floors, lots of people - so much fun!!!

Would love to go back for another night on the dancefloor in 51 Degrees - we'll see if I'm able to afford that before I leave as I'm saving pretty much all my money for travelling. Speaking of travelling, I now have all flights, trains and accommodations booked, I'm getting so excited :) The next step is booking a couple of Greyhounds when I get paid next week, reserve my place on a Grand Canyon tour, book train tickets for my day trip to Washington D.C. from New York and choose which show we are going to see on Broadway (I'm voting for The Lion King).

Got to go now, the sun is out, is +22 degrees celcius out there (it's 11am!!) and I've got a few hours before I need to get ready for work..

As the weather on the island has improved a lot in the past week I've been so tempted to buy a couple more bikinis to complete my bikini/swimwear collection :) I spent the whole day by the pool on Saturday desperately trying to top up my very faded tan, and will be heading there today for a little bit before work! I refuse to return home in July without an amazing tan!!

Yes I had short bleach blonde hair, and I loved it at the time. I think my hair is still recovering from that period...

be my valentine?

I don't think I've ever been this tired! I'm working in property management this week and spent the last couple of hours of work preparing a nice, GIGANTIC, house for an owner arrival uh. Altough can't complain about working 9-5 instead of the usual front desk hours especially after doing two weeks of evening shifts and finishing work at 11pm which means pretty much no social life.

We had a lovely little Valentine's party at my house last night, had such a good time with some friends, a few drinks and home-made cupcakes and brownies. Can't beat that really :)

Now I've got a lot catching up to do with my blog reading list.. got a cup of tea ready for a relaxing evening!

The shoes I ordered from CharlotteRusse arrived yesterday! Very very happy with the quick delivery, and now the chunky pink/wooden ones make my Friday night outfit absolutely perfect :) However, I'm trying to decide whether I should return the wedges as they make a funny, kind of a squeaky noise, when I walk in them... it's the knot bit making the worst noise and I'm not sure if it will annoy me to the point that I can't wear them!

Can't believe how quickly this week has passed - it's Friday again :) :) and as usual, I'm working till 11pm today and going out straight from work so I've already chosen my outfit for tonight. Definetely need a nap before work though... we had our weekly staff meeting at 8.30am, and after finishing work at 11pm last night and not a very good night's sleep I'm way too tired to even think about gym or work right now. Will need lots of energy on the dance floor tonight ;)

saving up for travelling?

... two words: online shopping! I was soooo bored at work last night, just browsing through a load of online shops and drooling at all the lovely pieces I would buy if I was a millionaire. Next thing I know, I’ve placed an order on CharlotteRusse.com woops. I’m not a big fan of their clothing as I usually prefer Forever21 but simply couldn’t resist the offer they had on their shoes: Buy 1 get 1 for $15. Now I’ve got the two cutest pairs of heels coming my way and I couldn’t be happier, especially because I got them for $53 J J I’m very picky when it comes to buying heels and I’d rather spend that bit more money to only buy heels that will last, which is why I’ve only got Topshop and Aldo heels in my wardrobe at the moment... I threw away all my crappy New Look and Primark ones when I was packing my life into cardboard boxes before moving to the US. I'm giving CharlotteRusse a go and hoping for the best!

It’s my first day off today since I got back from Miami and I’m planning on having some breakfast first, then reading through the new posts on all my favourite blogs, start taking photos of my wardrobe, have a nice, long workout at the gym, get on with my uni work and go to the cinema in the evening J Sounds like a perfect day off for me... except for the uni work.

It’s pissing it down (AGAIN) today so what would be better than having a think about the perfect summer wardrobe? it's as big as christmas

Just a quick one tonight... I’m currently sat on my bed in my PJs after a long day at work followed by a drink after the Super Bowl. Being Finnish I really don’t understand the football over here but I have to say I quite enjoyed the half-time performance by the Black Eyed Peas... and yes that was the only bit I even properly watched haha! We had the telly on at work so couldn’t avoid it – wish I had requested a day off or an AM shift so I could have joined everyone else at the pub for a couple of drinks when the game was still on!

decisions

So I’m trying to decide whether I should go out after work tonight or just drive straight back home and curl up in bed... it’s Friday, and I’m usually out most Friday nights but the current snow storm that’s making its way across continental US is definitely affecting the weather here in southern South Carolina too!! It’s so miserable and coming back from work after 11pm last night was just horrible – if it rains like that tonight I’m going to be absolutely soaked walking across the road from work to one of the bars we spend our Friday nights at. Bringing my umbrella wouldn’t help so I’m kind of liking the idea of a night in with a well needed cup of tea J plus I’m skyping my family in the morning and I’ve got so much to tell them I’d rather not be overly hungover.

I’m learning to use the timer on my camera to produce better outfit photos as all the mirrors in my flat are, frankly, really bad. I’m getting a hang of taking the photos and I’ve got a spot where to take them... but need to practice my posing a little hehe. Kind of look like I'm ready to kill someone in the first picture!! Another project of mine is photographing my entire wardrobe, including shoes and accessories just to have an archive of everything on my laptop, which should keep me busy the next couple of days.

Anyways, if I was to go out tonight I’ve got an idea of what I would wear: black miniskirt, nude heels and the beautiful blouse I purchased from Mango on our trip to Florida.
