FIFTY

As in FIFTY days that I have left of my internship and life on the island... that scares the s*** out of me, honestly. It's going to be the weirdest feeling leaving this place and all the people behind and knowing I'm never gona have the kind of lifestyle I've had here ever again. Going back to being a student in Manchester, UK is kind of exciting too :) and I think I can start planning all the amazing things I can do in all the places I'm travelling to in June!

I've been busy busy busy this week, work's been crazy recently as we are getting ready for the PGA Heritage golf tournament that starts in the resort tomorrow and the whole island is going to be a madhouse (literally) for the next seven days. So my time and energy to blog hasn't been very good in the past few days..

Just wanted to share a few exciting photos (I'LL BE IN CALIFORNIA IN TWO MONTHS!) ...and I'm off to a cinema date with a friend. I've heard the Source Code is really good sooo it's HELLO Jake Gyllenhaal tonight :)

wish i could turn back time

Just a quick one - I'm home for lunch and I've got a bit of time before going back to work to do my actual shift! The morning training was an interesting one, we talked about customer service, all the different expectations customers might have and how to do that little extra to ensure they return even if something went wrong during their stay at the resort.

And linking that to holidays and exploring new places, I wanted to share a picture of one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited... Venice, Italy. I had a summer job on a campsite by the sea about 30 minutes boat ride from Venice and spent countless days off just walking around in the amazing city :) good memories of one of the best summers of my life, and boy I wish I was as tanned as I was at the end of that summer in Italy!!

eighty seven

... days until I go travelling across America!!!

Cannot believe it. I'm a little bit closer to the most amazing month of my life as I booked some tickets for myself and my sister for our week in New York :) Soooo the Lion King booked, return tickets to Washington D. C. booked and crown access tickets to the Statue of Liberty BOOKED! the only thing from stopping me getting even more excited about my upcoming trip is the mountain of uni work waiting for me in the next three weeks. ouch :(

hope your friday night is a bit more exiting than staring at the laptop screen and having cups of tea to get through it. here's something that keeps me motivated - I'm so insanely looking forward to a trip to the Grand Canyon!

Morning, uh oh I woke up in such a bad mood after seeing the weather forecast for today – not leaving the house unless I have to, which means gym and work! It was such a lovely, warm day yesterday but now it’s back to cold and rainy L

Anyway, here’s some more photos of last weekend! On Saturday we were in Orlando and went to Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure to see the Harry Potter world J absolutely loved it – I had a Butterbeer (one word – disgusting!!), bought Chocolate Frogs and went to Hogwarts too. The little girl inside me had the best day ever!

I’m back on the island from my short trip down to Florida! Actually got back last night but after about 10 hours on the road didn’t really feel like doing anything else than sleeping... We left the island on Friday and drove to Orlando, went to Universal Studios on Saturday just to see the Harry Potter World, which was amazing J Then travelled down to Miami Beach on Sunday, spent Monday in Miami Zoo and drove all the way back yesterday. I had such an amazing time and will definitely return to Miami Beach... when I can afford to stay in a beach front hotel for a week and do some major shopping on Collins Avenue! As Miami Beach was my favourite place during my little holiday I’ll start with the Miami Beach photos J and there are loads more to come in the next couple of days...

I'm all packed and ready to set off to my weekend getaway to Florida! One more shift at work, and this time tomorrow we'll be almost in Orlando... I've been busy running around all day, so just quickly posting a few pictures of some of the stuff I'll be wearing during my days off. I'm overly excited about the weather forecast for Miami Beach: it's supposed to be around plus 25 degrees Celcius on Sunday and Monday, which is going to feel absolutely amazing after the horrible coldness of Hilton Head!!! two sleeps...

... and I’m Florida-bound!!! Can’t even describe how excited my flatmate and I are about going away for the weekend. The plan is to drive to Orlando on Friday, visit the Harry Potter world at Universal Studios on Saturday (meaning I’ll be eating chocolate frogs and having a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks J ), then make our way down to Miami Beach on Sunday returning to Hilton Head on Tuesday. I can’t believe I’m actually going to Miami, it’s been a dream of mine for such a long time and since I’m living in South Carolina for a year I HAVE TO drive down for a weekend J

Our little Florida holiday is a much needed break from uni work and my placement, and when we get back I’ve only got FOUR MONTHS to go till my actual travels! ...which means saving, saving, saving all my money for it. Luckily, I’m getting all the taxes I paid last year back in the next week or so, so at least I’m able to book all my flights, trains, rest of the hostels and hotels, and some other fun stuff too I’m planning on doing in June J

california here we come...

Kalifornian hostellit varattu!!! J vihdoinkin aloitin majotuksen varaamisen kunnolla ja innostus ensi kesän reissukuukautta kohtaan senkun kasvaa... Matkareittihän mulla on jo alustavasti päätetty, elikkä kesäkuun 7.päivä lähtö bussilla Atlantaan ja siitä eteenpäin reitti on New Orleans – San Francisco – Los Angeles – Las Vegas – New York palaten Suomeen 5.7.2011. Aion viettää yhteensä kymmenen yötä Kalifornian auringon alla enkä malttais pysyä housuissani kun haaveilen kävelystä Santa Monican ja Venice Beachin rantaa pitkin, Hollywood-kyltin näkemisestä ja vaikka mistä muusta ihanuudesta. Lukioaikaisena O.C. –fanina mun täytynee myös matkata etelämmäs Newport Beachin puolelle. LA:n hostelli on Hollywoodin puolella ihan Walk of Famen alkupäässä, ja sieltä tarjotaan ilmaista päivittäistä bussikuljetusta rannalle – yes please! San Francisco on kaupunki, jossa olen aina halunnut päästä käymään: ruosteenpunainen Golden Gate –silta, Alcatraz –vankilasaari, raitiovaunut, ylös-alas kiemurtelevat kadut ja jyrkkääkin jyrkempi Lombard Street. Mun valitsema hostelli sijaitsee keskeisellä paikalla Union Squaren lähettyvillä kävelymatkan päässä tärkeimmistä nähtävyyksistä.

ENGLISH I’ve booked the hostels for my ten-day stay in California, soooo excited!! I’ve been planning my trip across America forever, and have finally made the step to actually start booking accommodations, flights etc. It all begins on June 7^th when I’m leaving the island and getting a Greyhound to Atlanta. From that onwards I will explore New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York. It’s going to be the best month of my life finally returning to Finland on July 5^th. I have always, I mean ALWAYS, wanted to travel to California... there are so many places and things to see and do that ten days won’t be enough. In June I’ll be photographing the Hollywood sign, looking at the stars on the Walk of Fame, walking on Venice Beach, visiting the Santa Monica pier and hopefully making my way down to Newport Beach too... yes, I was slightly obsessed with the O.C. years ago! San Francisco has been on my must-visit list for ages too, I mean who doesn’t know the Golden Gate bridge?? I’ll be staying in a hostel just a couple of blocks from Union Square so the location is just perfect J The pictures above that I googled just make me want to go already!!

Tuleeko kellekään muulle kylminä talvipäivinä ikävä kesän lämpöä, lomareissuja ja aurinkoa? Mä fiilistelin koko eilisillan työvuoron ajan puolentoistavuoden takaista unelmakesää Italiassa, voi kun pääsisin takaisin edes pieneksi hetkeksi... ja saisin myös sen intiaanirusketuksen uudelleen J Olin siis 2009 kesän töissä leirintäalueella koillis-Italiassa kivenheiton päässä Venetsiasta, ja melkein kirjaimellisesti elin rannalla bikineissä kaksi ja puoli kuukautta.. tässä hieman kuvasaldoa monelta Venetsian-retkeltä mun ikävää helpottamaan!

Näistä aamupostauksista taitaa tulla tapa tällä viikolla, nimittäin tasan kasilta alkoi taas hirvittävä möykkä ulkona... mun ei ilmeisesti haluta nukkuvan ollenkaan!

Nyt kuitenkin olisi parasta alkaa toteuttaa yhtä mun uudenvuodenlupauksista ja raahautua pihan poikki salille, laters!
